Merry Mac Vcb1102em Manual
This spring I purchased a MacKissic TPH-123 chipper/shredder that came standard with a screen with 1' holes. These units have a hammermill, and whatever goes down the chute gets flailed until it's small enough to exit through the screen holes. The 1' size is good for chipping branches, so it's met my needs so far. But with leaf season coming, I'm wondering about getting the optional 1/2' hole screen. I compost all my leaves, and I'm hoping the smaller size will help the compost process work faster, and also make the shredded leaf piles more compact and thus easier to move around my property.
They sell screens with 1/4', 1/2', and 3/4' holes, plus some with larger oblong openings that I think are for wet materials. Anyone tried some of these, and if so, is 1/2' best for dry leaves? They're pricey at $119 each, so I don't intend to buy more than one. I'm a little concerned that the smaller screens will just slow down the machine, without making a significant difference to my composting and mulching.
